Luc Taerwe is decaan van de Faculteit Ingenieurswetenschappen en Architectuur van de Universiteit Gent en als dusdanig betrokken bij de promotie van ingenieursstudies. Als gewoon hoogleraar verricht hij onderzoek op het vlak van betonconstructies en risicoanalyse van bouwprocessen.
