Dr Harris has undertaken considerable re-writing of the late Sir Rupert Cross's text to update case-law, and to take into account both new developments in the literature and the possible implications that the impact of European Community Law has for the English law of precedent. He has, however, preserved the quality of the original text by continuing, for the most part, to expound a fairly traditional practitioners' view.
