The play, therefore,depicts contemporary gypsy life, as well as traditional gypsy customs andsuperstitions, and is a delightful amalgam of the traditional arts of storytelling,singing and dancing, with a mumming play, a shadow-mime andpuppetry also employed within the main framework.
