Petroleum and the Environment

This book concerns petroleum and the environment. The material is presented in ten chapters with four modules. The four modules dwell on fundamental theories concerning petroleum and the environment; composition of crude oil and natural gas treatment processes; oil pollution, sampling and monitoring; and extraction, identification, and biomarkers in oil spill analysis. Moreover, each chapter commences with a preamble and desired learning objectives by signifying what is expected from students at the end of the unit. Additionally, at the end of each unit there is a conclusion, recap, and short questions for revision associated with the basic issues of the respective unit. Lastly, glossary and exam questions are set for exam preparation and clarity. The book attempts to fill the existing gaps in knowledge about emerging perspectives on petroleum and the environment. It will be an interesting and helpful resource for academics, managers, specialists, and students at all levels of environmental science and environmental management and toxicology.
