David Robinson, co-founder of Sporeboys, a mushroomstreet-food kitchen which tours food markets in Londonand events across the UK, came up with the idea ofillustrating children's books with fungi images. Using thefungi to create meticulously assembled luminograms, PennyBun Helps Save the World, a tale of a group of mushroomsand their attempt to save their forest home, is illustratedwith images created by arranging mushroom sculptures onthe plate of an enlarger on photographic paper, andexposing them to different light intensities. Each exposureproduces a one of a kind print, shaped by the interplay oflight and the natural colour and texture of the mushrooms.
