E-governance Techniques

The term E-governance implies upgrading of efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative machinery, through the combination of information technology and multimedia, to deliver better, cost-effective and speedy services to the citizens. India has emerged over the last decade as the most preferred destination for outsourcing of IT services. The vibrant IT industry is contributing immensely by providing information about latest technology and international business practices. Various sectors of the Indian economy such as industry, finance, insurance, communications and transport have adopted information technology in a big way. The National E-governance Plan (2003-07) reflects the strategic intent of the Central Government in the right perspective. This book deals with the practices, problems and prospects of the E-governance. It focuses on E-governance initiatives in India and records the experiences of various countries in this regard.
