A political philosophical treatise
Paperback EN 2020 1e druk 9789464182347Samenvatting
ON GREEN LIBERTY calls us to the inconvenient truth of applying consistently the liberal outlook. Van den Berg extends John Stuart Mill’s no-harm principle to include non-human animals and future generations. ON GREEN LIBERTY notes that, just as there is consensus among all contemporary political parties that slavery is unacceptable, so also should the exploitation of non-human animals and the harm done to future generations by degrading planet Earth be unacceptable. Green liberalism is liberalism which deals with the challenges of the 21st century. Not only does it offer a rigorous political philosophy, but it can be applied to many societal issues. Green liberalism runs contrary to many cherished beliefs and some strongly held intuitions. Do you dare to take up this book?
