An extra language

As a therapist, you can create an overview and new insights for your clients with the metholology of An Extra Language. It is also a powerful tool to give direction to your questions during the therapy process.

An Extra Language focuses on visualising the internal and external reality of the client. By working with Duplo figures, the client’s problem is depicted and the inner dialogue is made visible and stimulated. This gives the client a better overview and makes it easier to give direction to change processes.

This book mainly aims to provide a practical guide or reference work. This is why the theory is not discussed in detail, but is depicted as much as possible with figure setups.

Ady van Doornik

After completing her education at the Social Academy, Ady van Doornik (1952) worked for twelve years as a family therapist at a medical nursery. This sparked her interest in the dynamics between parents and their children, prompting her decision to train as a systemic therapist in 1990. She then transferred to a youth mental health institute, where she worked for 23 years as a system therapist. She is currently a supervisor and trainer with the Dutch professional association for relationship and family therapists.

With her company De Kontekst Gooise Meren, she also provides in-company training throughout the Netherlands, in addition to various training courses and An Extra Language training.
