LIM SIONG GUAN

Lim Siong Guan - The Best is Yet to Be provides insights into Siong Guan's past, his thoughts on the present, and his perspectives on the future, particularly on surviving and thriving in a world of "unknown unknowns".

But this is not a book about Siong Guan - it is about what he thinks readers would find useful as they contemplate their futures and strive to be the best that they can be.

Through Siong Guan's reflections, interviews with people who personally know him well, sharings from people who have worked with him, as well as media articles, you get a glimpse into Siong Guan's humble beginnings, his inspirational public service career from 1969 to 2019, and more. You will see how the future of Singapore and the people he works with have been his consistent focus and constant obsession.

This book shares how Siong Guan exceled in school and his career with a curious and searching mind, as well as a heart of empathy and service - never seeking fame or fortune, he chases opportunities not money, and seeks to serve rather than be served.

Working for Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Dr Goh Keng Swee, the powerful core of Singapore's founding leaders, Siong Guan saw first-hand how Singapore's success as a start-up nation came

through innovation and creativity. And he believes Singapore's continued survivability requires an unswerving vision with even more innovation and creativity.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew brought Singapore from third world to first. Where does Singapore go from here?

Siong Guan digs into his 50 years of public service for pointers on where Singapore should go and how it can get there, so that Singapore can always be the home of opportunity, where "The Best is Yet to Be"!
